What is a word without context? Language harbors a fascinating interpretative elasticity. Between context and composition, even a singular word can yield a multitude of connotations. Such is a concept that transcends media, in which the individual creative choices you make, the language even, will culminate in the ultimate interpretation. A variant of this principle served as the basis for multiple exercises in my adventures typography with two such highlighted here.

With the creative freedom to choose any word in the universe for this project I naturally selected yeet, a word near and dear to my soul. The first objective was to visually convey the essence of a word, to build context. After modifying the type according to the desired context in Adobe Illustrator, it was printed and traced to further enhance and explore the design possibilities.

Yeet to me, as the distinguished term it is(I jest) is defined by its inherent jubilance and carefree spirit. Portraying motion and energy was my primary strive. I wanted it to positively burble with potential to do yeet justice. The literal bubbles and the bouncing letters obviously communicate this but subtler details such as the sheen of the type alone transform the freshness of the vibe.

Apart from the previous project, this work bespeaks the value I place in building a composition and with it context. By compounding this quotation and imagery with an actual cause, the entire piece is elevated to a narrative. Concise on the surface but with a curated network of woven elements united beneath.
